GSB ’30 second Interview’: Chris Stanton

Bibby Line Group // 26th May 2021

We talked to Chris Stanton, BFS Business Development Executive about his recent fundraising achievements…

What did you do to raise money?

“In December 2020, I decided to take part in Run Aintree participating in the 10k race. Finishing 101st out of 338 ain’t bad for a 1st timer. Race time of (46:54).”

Was it tough?

“Before Lockdown 1 I had no interest in running and was close to giving in, after being caught in the rain on multiple occasions leading up to the event. But after crossing the finish line the satisfaction (of beating my mates) and raising money for a great cause made it all worth it!”

How much did you raise?

“I raised a total of £1855 + the £500 contribution from Bibby’s GSB programme which went direct to South Liverpool Foodbank around Christmas time when those need it most.”

Can you tell us about your charity?

South Liverpool Foodbank believe no one in the community should have to face going hungry. That’s why they provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.”

How did you live the Bibby Values?

“Two values I think apply; Be Better – I challenged myself to leave my comfort zone and complete a 10k race. I improved my health and maintained a healthy training schedule that resulted in improving productivity at work.

“And Do the right thing – Raising money for a food bank at Christmas time when families have added pressures of presents and gifts not knowing when the next meal may come. Being from Liverpool and working for Bibby who are proud of their Liverpool heritage I took it upon myself to act responsible and give something back to the community I operate from.”

Well done Chris – amazing achievement!
