International Women’s Day 2021 celebrated across Bibby Line Group

Bibby Line Group // 26th May 2021

In March, colleagues from across The Group came together online to celebrate International Women’s Day 2021, and champion the advancement of women’s rights and gender equality, with this year’s theme being #ChooseToChallenge.

International Women’s Day is just one of a series of events that run across The Group each year as part of our Inclusion and Diversity Programme.

The message this year was that we can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.

A coordinated programme of activity across the Group took place.

Bibby Marine created an online pledge board where they asked ‘How will you forge a more inclusive world?’ Colleagues pledged lots of actions including continuing to support and encourage colleagues and daughters, challenging stereotypes and boycotting sexist companies. As you will see in Bibby eNews , they also conducted an interview with Louise Bigley, Commercial Assistant.

Bibby Financial Services created a thread on their  internal Yammer communications channel for colleagues to share stories, inspiring women and photos with hashtag #ChooseToChallenge

Garic held a week-long celebration where they encouraged everyone to get involved with selfies (see above), pledges and attend virtual coffee mornings as well as speaking to their newest female colleague Helen Elms (Learning and Development Manager) and their longest serving female colleague Claire Smith (Payroll Clerk) to answer some questions about their thoughts on International Women’s Day.

BLG Head Office created a space on their Teams channel for colleagues share ideas, thoughts and suggestions on inclusion and diversity as well as inviting the team to a special Prince’s Trust ‘Trust Talk’ on the subject.
