Garic colleagues donate time and furniture to local care home

Bibby Line Group // 21st October 2021

When Garic colleagues heard that care workers at the Whitdale House care home in Whitburn, near their Falkirk depot, had been struggling to get residents to spend time outdoors, there inbuilt instinct to help the local community kicked in.

Martin Gardner, Falkirk Depot Manager said:

“Due to the time isolating inside because of COVID, we heard it had been a challenge getting some residents outside, and benefiting from the sunshine and fresh air. We got together as a team, and thought about how we could use our skills and resources to help them. One of the projects was to build a summer house in the garden, a rare thing in Scotland!

“So after talking to the care home, we were more than happy to supply and volunteer to build the furniture, helping the local community and especially the wellbeing of the Whitdale House care home. It was a real team effort, and I’m so proud of the team for stepping in and working with our local community. Just seeing the reactions of the residents made it so rewarding.”
