Garic partnership with Lighthouse Club shines light on mental health awareness

Bibby Line Group // 21st October 2021

Supporting colleagues’ mental health and wellbeing is a top priority for Garic. To support this, the team have chosen to work with the Lighthouse Club – a charity that work specifically with the construction industry to provide emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.

Following a successful pilot earlier in the year, and to coincide with World Mental Health Day on October 10th, Garic extended their mental health training to all colleagues.

The latest course took place on Wednesday 6th October and was attended by 23 delegates from across all locations, meaning that in total Garic now have 43 colleagues trained in Mental Health Awareness.

The course consists of a selection of content, videos, and discussion activities and following the feedback received from the initial pilot course held in May. The course duration was also extended to 4 hours to enable further discussion time between colleagues. Topics include an understanding of what mental health, how to challenge stigma and how to support others in distress.

Jen Wood, Head of HR said “Life presents a range of challenges and as a business we want our colleagues to be able to bring the best version of themselves to work, whether this is onsite, in our offices, or when logging on at home. Through our partnership with the Lighthouse Club, we’re supporting colleagues to feel better equipped to deal with the issues and surrounding mental health and to help provide confidence to have conversations.”
