Inspiring future generations: Bibby Marine’s Louise gives important school talk

Bibby Line Group // 28th February 2022

To celebrate the 7th anniversary of the International Women’s and Girls day in Science, Bibby Marine Client Account Manager Louise Bigley spoke to children at Henry Chadwick Primary School via zoom and talked them through the role the role of women play in Nautical Science and the Merchant Navy.

Celebrated on the 11th of February each year, International Women’s and Girls day in Science is a global movement for the recognition of the role of women and girls in science, in the hopes of inspiring future generations and the scientists of tomorrow.

Louise said: “I’ve always been interested in the marine industry and was obsessed with joining the Royal Navy as a young teen. In the Merchant navy today the percentage of female seafarers is approximately 1 – 2 %. Hopefully, the education of these young people will inspire another generation of female Seafarers, Scientists and Engineers. This was an opportunity to promote accessibility and opportunity for women and to further rally for Gender Equality.”
