Bibby Marine Services is proud to announce that the Bibby WaveMaster 1, has successfully started a charter with Dana Petroleum Limited.
The vessel is working with Dana on their large Triton FPSO project, supporting the annual shutdown project.
An FPSO is a floating production system that receives fluids (crude oil, water and a host of other things) from a reservoir below the sea through risers, which then separate fluids into crude oil, natural gas, water and impurities within the topsides production facilities onboard.
Dana Petroleum is an oil and gas exploration and production company that operates in the North Sea, Africa and the Middle East. The structure Bibby will be supporting is located in the North Sea, approximately 120 miles off the coast of Aberdeen. The Triton FPSO is 244m in length and 42m wide, and has a capacity of up to 630,000 barrels of oil.
The Bibby Wavemaster 1 is housing the technicians and engineers who will carry out these works, providing them with accommodation, recreational and messing facilities.
Bibby WaveMaster 1 is equipped with a motion-compensated transfer gangway to allow maintenance personnel to walk safely between vessel and offshore structure, even in bad weather and with high waves (see below).
Marcus Brady, Vessel Manager for the Bibby Wavemaster 1 said: “After months of planning, construction of suitable landing platforms on the Triton to enable safe connection of the Uptime gangway and a mobilisation involving installing capabilities, the Bibby WaveMaster 1 arrived and made her first connection to the 244m FPSO Triton, – ushering in a new era of maintenance potential for FPSO vessels and proving the versatility of the Bibby Wavemaster vessels.
“This is a first for a Walk 2 Work vessel and has proven that a little thinking outside the box provides potential for large scale maintenance projects on fixed assets with a highly mobile workforce.”
The Wavemaster 1 is set to support Dana for the next two months.
