Two companies within Bibby Line Group employed more than 250 people on 5 April 2021, and are required to report on their gender pay gap in 2022. They are Bibby Financial Services and Garic.
Each company has prepared its own individual report, available here:
About the reports
The reporting period is a snapshot of each of the two businesses at 5 April 2021. The reports refer to the gender pay gap, which is the average earning difference between men and women across an organisation, demonstrated by six statutory calculations, expressed as a percentage of men’s earnings in relation to women’s.
The gender pay gap is different from equal pay. Equal pay relates to men and women being paid the same amount for the same role, which is a legal requirement in the UK.
Office for National Statistics (ONS October 2021) report that interpreting average earnings data is difficult given complexities of interpreting earnings data in the current climate as the data for 2020 was affected by both coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, in terms of wages and hours worked in the economy, and the disruption to data collection from businesses. This means that comparisons with 2020 need to be treated with caution and ONS encourage a focus on the longer term trends rather than year on year changes.
Bibby Line Group
As a responsible group, we recognise the positive impact and value that an inclusive and diverse workforce can have on our business in many ways.
We have taken further steps over the last 12 months to improve inclusion and diversity and help close the gender pay gap, which you can read about in the reports.
At a group-wide level, our new sustainability framework ‘Project Compass’ that has four focus points – People, Customer, Environment and Communities. The programme is designed to use the power of the Group to support our businesses, challenge them to do more, align to a common vision, but not restrict activity on specific initiatives. Through this work the Bibby Line Group can be a true leader in sustainability in its broadest sense.
The “People” Compass Point vision is to keep our colleagues safe at work and celebrate, respect and value them for who they are and what they do, with ‘Active Inclusion’ being one of the three trailblazers within this point helping us to define what we do and focus actions to improve inclusion and diversity across our group.
Work includes linking up with market-leading partners, sharing strategies between companies, improving operations and a full people policy review, celebrating a calendar of I&D events and enhanced training. The Learning & Development trailblazer will ensure that all colleagues are actively encouraged and supported to grow their capabilities to progress through the organisation. And our Health & Wellbeing trailblazer also recognises that supporting colleagues requires us to address gender-specific aspects of health, so ensuring that all colleagues are properly supported to maintain their wellbeing.
All steps and measures to close the gender pay gap have the Bibby Values at their core: Do the right thing; Work together; Trust each other; Be better; Be innovative – all to deliver excellent customer service to an inclusive and diverse workforce.
