Bibby Line Group celebrates a year of fundraising by staff at the Giving Something Back Awards

Today at their Giving Something Back Awards lunch, held in The Music Room of The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool-based company Bibby Line Group celebrated another fantastic year of fundraising and volunteering by staff across the Group.

Hosting 100 guests, including partners from The Prince’s Trust, Teach First and the Hive Community Centre on the Wirral, Sir Michael Bibby and other members of the Bibby family celebrated their employee’s charitable achievements across 2016, through their longstanding CSR programme called Giving Something Back.

Over £450,000 has been donated this year to hundreds of charities selected by the employees themselves, bringing the programme’s total to £9.3 million since it began in 2007, when the business celebrated its bicentenary.

Sir Michael told the assembled guests:

“You are all winners. Your efforts have helped hundreds and thousands of people up and down the country. You should be proud of yourselves – I am proud of you and so is the Bibby Line Group.”

This year’s Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Jack Higgins, entertained the crowd with a specially choreographed dance, and spoke about The Prince’s Trust helping him to start his dance training at local arts college Studio 76.

The categories awarded included Top Fundraiser, Top Volunteer, Top Charity Team, Top Idea for Charity and Most Outstanding Achievement for Charity.

Fundraising activities included Payroll Giving (donations from employees’ salaries), UK and international challenge events (Hadrian’s Wall Hike and Cuba Trek) and support for Group partnerships with The Princes Trust, TeachFirst and The Hive community centre on the Wirral.

Bibby Line Group’s CSR Programme Co-ordinator,   Heather de Grootsaid:

“Each year I am blown away by the inspirational stories and achievements from our colleagues across our businesses, both in the UK and abroad. We are delighted to recognise and reward their success with this afternoon, which is also an opportunity to set an example for others across the Group.  One of our core values as a business is to “Do the Right Thing” and this event clearly demonstrates how our people truly live this value in and outside of work. “
